Ray Rools Vocals, Guitars Atan King Guitars, Vocals Calvin C Bass, Vocals Colin C Drums, Vocals Formed in Dec of ’99, Kate Of Kale has become one of the mainstays of the local music scene after playing numerous major shows including the first “Bay Beats” festival at The Esplanade in 2002. Built on friendship, hard work and passion for making music, the band has two full length CDs, 2 Malaysian tours and numerous compilation releases under their belt. Refusing to be unheard, the band started their own record label, Fixation Records to fund the release of their latest full-length effort, “This Hole We Call Our Heart”. The album was recorded at Snakeweed Studios (Electrico, Ronin, Parking Lot Pimps) in 2004. It was a tedious process as the guys had to juggle work, school and National Service at the same time. Armed with explosive live shows, a new album and a handful of mp3s circulating on the net, Los Angeles based Statue Records soon caught wind of the band and picked up the record for distribution in US. Since the release of “This Hole...” the band has been playing shows non-stop, winning over new fans with their unique brand of intense, sincere and emotive punk rock. Kate Of Kale have shared stages with Sommerset (NZ), Buddhistson (JP), Boing (GER), Utarid (MY), Brandtson (US), Copeland (US), Love Me Butch (MY) and many more. In May 2005, the band rented a van and drove over 2000 kilometers, from Singapore to Penang and back, headlining a 4-date Malaysian tour (Killed By Screams Tour 2005) organized by Johor-based punk rock label. While Kate Of Kale may not play the typical sounds that the mainstream is currently pushing, one cannot deny the passion that sweats through the speakers either via the experience of a recording or bearing witness to one of the unit’s chaotic and intimate live sets.
