David Zoffer, an award winning jazz musician and composer, makes a seamless transition into the world of pop music with his band, The David Zoffer Differential (DZD), interweaving his catchy, clever vocals with Rajdulari’s beautifully soulful and sophisticated R&B singing style, while he plays guitar, keys, and bass. Backed by the accomplished jazz and rock guitar & bass playing of Jamie Stewardson and Eric Doob’s eclectic knowledge of drum rhythms from around the world, Zoffer’s music has received international radio airplay across Europe and Voice of America Radio. The new CD, Release, (distributed by Mud Hut records) is already a top 10 and 20 college radio hit across the country.
From their home base in Boston, the DZD have appeared live on the local college/jazz radio stations. They are at home in settings ranging from rock and funk clubs like Johnny D’s and Annex NYC, to packed performances at jazz festivals from Boston’s Regattabar to Café Reykjavik in Iceland, and even classical venues like Jordan Hall. Zoffer’s phenomenal skills have led to recordings and performances w/ Harry Connick Jr., Bela Fleck, Luciana Souza, John Medeski, and even the Boston Philharmonic.
The David Zoffer Differential and their new CD, Release, has them knocking down all the predisposed notions of what pop-jazz really is. Zoffer uses his knowledge of jazz composition and love of pop music to create a catchy yet sophisticated sound that will satisfy the most ardent musician’s ear while still inspiring pop music fans to dance the night away.
